Relocating to North Carolina?

Enjoy your adventure as you visit the best North Carolina relocation resource available today.

Before you start your journey, take a minute and review what makes North Carolina a great place to work and play.

What makes North Carolina real estate worthwhile?

A delicate chain of sandbars called the Outer Banks lines much of the North Carolina coast, forming treacherous obstacles to oceangoing vessels. Particularly perilous are the Diamond Shoals of Cape Hatteras, nicknamed the Graveyard of the Atlantic because of the hundreds of shipwrecks that have taken place there. Further inland, close to the border with Virginia, gnarled cypress trees emerge from the waters of the Great Dismal Swamp, one of the nation’s largest marshlands. Despite the rather ominous names of these North Carolina locales, they are just two of the striking, scenic landscapes that the state has to offer.

In the 1990s North Carolina factories continue to lead the nation in these three areas. Manufacturing, accounting for nearly 30 percent of the gross state product, includes chemicals, computers, and industrial machinery among its other major products. Research Triangle Park, in the Raleigh-Durham area, is a national center for scientific and medical research, with a large number of high-tech development projects based there.

Agriculture is another important facet of the state’s economy. North Carolina is among the nation’s leaders in the harvest of tobacco, peanuts, and sweet potatoes, as well as livestock commodities such as turkeys, hogs, broilers, and eggs. Tourism generates billions of dollars of income each year in North Carolina. Among the state’s most popular attractions are Great Smoky Mountains National Park and the Blue Ridge Parkway—a motor route that meanders about 755 kilometers (about 470 miles) through the Blue Ridge Mountains, offering panoramic vistas of tree-laden hillsides and peaceful valleys. Near the town of Kitty Hawk is the Wright Brothers National Memorial, where Orville and Wilbur Wright made their historic first flight in 1903.
