Utah foreclosures post year-over-year decrease

Even as most states posted foreclosure increases in the third quarter, Utah was one of only five states where foreclosures decreased, RealtyTrac reported Thursday. According to the Q3 2007 U.S. Foreclosure Market Report, Utah foreclosure filings dipped nearly 34 percent from the same time last year and were down 2.4 percent from the previous quarter. At a rate of one foreclosure filing per every 402 households, Utah had the 20th-highest foreclosure rate in the country.

During the third quarter, foreclosure activity in the U.S. was up nearly 100 percent from 2006 and up 30 percent from the previous quarter. The U.S. foreclosure rate was one foreclosure filing per every 196 households.
