General Information
Spanish Fork City is the first city in Utah to provide high speed internet and cable television to its local businesses and residents. This progressive community of nearly 30,000 people is located in the south end of Utah County. The city has a very proud heritage, as evidenced by the many memorials located throughout the community.
In an era when many Utah County cities are attempting to revitalize their downtowns, Spanish Fork already has a vibrant Main Street. Restaurants like Bajio, Magleby's Fresh, One Man Band and Pier 49 Pizza all call Main Street home.
The energized Main Street is also known for the adolescent tradition of "cruising main." For decades, young drivers from all over south Utah County have congregated on Friday night up and down the crowded road.
Many high-profile companies have located in Spanish Fork, including the Banta Corporation, Klune Industries, Alcoa Engineered Products, Nature's Sunshine, and Longview Fibre.
Spanish Fork saw substantial growth during the last decade, but especially between 2000 and 2007, when the city grew from 20,552 to nearly 30,000 residents. Spanish Fork's households, with an average of 3.45 people, are smaller than most of the county's.
Origin of City's Name
Spanish Fork was named after a river adjacent to the city's original location, which was dubbed by the 1776 Dominguez-Escalante expedition.
